Looks almost exactly like some of the lakes in East TN or Western NC. It’s in the 70s this weekend across the South. Just saying. :P

It’s Squam Lake in NH... if you were wondering. It does have some nice “mountains” to the north side that rise about 1,500 feet up from the lake level. I biked that ridge last summer and wrote about it here on Oppo.

Sometimes I wish the boating season was longer. But I’ll take ice and snow for a few months, over the 40's-50's crap where it’s not really nice enough for... anything outside. Not quite. I could drive my car across my lake right now, haha. In fact, there was a big auto race on the lake next to ours just last week!

Aww, the 40s are prime hiking and climbing season down here. Then in the summer you still get all the fun at the lake.

But I do miss snowshoeing, snowboarding, and all that. It almost doesn’t exist down here.

True, 40's and 50's are nice for being outside as long as you’re working. I just can’t deal with heat.

That said, I do have a boat. So... hmm

It would be hard for me to coach ski jumping in TN though.

You’d probably be surprised. AL has more lakefront per capita than any other state. Lake Culture down here is a religion. Even our biggest state park has a lake dedicated to jumping and stunts (ski/wakeboard/etc), and that’s public. The universities and various clubs have a lot more. The season here is year-round for the pros, and at least Apr-Oct for the dabblers.

You’ll rarely meet anyone down here who can’t at least waterski. It’s almost a given.

True, I’d just have to change from snow-ski jumping to waterskis. I could do that.

So, do you waterski then? You might say... I dabble.

Sorry, I forgot you were a ski jump instructor! My brain was stuck on the lake thing. That’s so far off my radar, I didn’t even think of it. I only see it ever 4 years :D

But it might just be a matter of time. Hockey is slowly taking over here, so why not ski jumping? Those artificial surfaces we were talking about...

Hey, no worries - I mean, many of the best ski jumpers in the US come from the midwest - not because of their abundant snow or mountains!
